Huwe Burton was charged with murder in the Bronx, New York in 1989, when he was just 16 years old. At the time, he was a sophomore in high school and had never before been arrested or involved with the justice system. There was no evidence against him but a coerced and false "confession" obtained after many hours of aggressive police questioning and statements made by the man his lawyers believe actually committed the crime. After serving nearly 20 years, he was released on parole in 2009 and fully exonerated in 2019. Since his release Huwe has been working as an elevator repairman.
