Clare Gilbert

Clare Gilbert is the executive director of the Georgia Innocence Project (GIP), where she oversees the organization and its overarching mission to prevent and remedy wrongful convictions. Prior to joining GIP in April 2015, Clare worked for six years as a public defender in Snohomish County, Washington. She also represented nonprofits at Smith and Lowney, PLLC, worked as a policy lawyer at the Government Accountability Project, and as a victim advocate in the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office (San Antonio, TX). Clare graduated from the University of Washington School of Law and Vassar College, and is licensed in Georgia and Washington.
