Allen Otte

Allen Otte came to the University of Cincinnati in 1977 with The Blackearth Percussion Group, and in 1979 founded Percussion Group Cincinnati (PGC). Appearances in their national and international touring schedule have included major cities, festivals, concert halls and schools of America, Europe and Asia. Numerous composers from around the world have created a large body of new and experimental music for Otte and PGC. PGC was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 2017. Otte regularly presents his own creative work—solo and collaborative performances (John Lane/The Innocents Project; the improvisation trio Vaster Than Empires)—here and abroad, often in residencies centered around the theme of “performing social justice.”
