Starting from the Beginning: Strategies for Evaluating and Developing Your Case

This session is designed to assist newer legal practitioners begin a systematic approach to evaluating post-conviction innocence claims and develop legal theories of relief. Using an an actual case example, participants will talk through how to effectively identify claims, obtain records, formulate an investigative plan and strategy, prioritize witness interviews and assess how best (if at all) to work with opposing counsel. Participants will learn by brainstorming with each other as well as with experienced faculty.
