Immigration and Wrongful Conviction

Location: Peachtree Room
Date: Fri, April 12
Time: 11:15 AM - 12:30 PM

Many of wrongly convicted individuals in American prisons are not American citizens. While incarcerated, they not only struggle to prove their innocence, but also to fight against deportation once free. This lecture seeks to give attorneys and advocates the fundamental tools necessary to represent and support clients who face possible deportation after release from prison. The lecture will cover the basic concepts at the intersection of criminal and immigration law, and general legal strategies to consider while representing a wrongly convicted non-citizen client.
